TeilnehmerI have the latest drivers, but i think it has something to do with the card. That is why I have been going after an external card. I will wait for the new external Creative card I ordered.
By the way I upgraded the version of AOMRecord today and it seems like it is not responding. It opens okay, but when I launch Radio@AOL, the AOMRecord program becomes non-repsonsive.
It is really tying up quite a bit of CPU useage (>40%).

TeilnehmerIt is WIndows XP. The sound device is SoundMAX Digital Audio. It is the integrated sound device.
Can I send an attachement with a screenshot?

TeilnehmerThank you for confirming my suspicions. It is touted as a sound card, but it is just a firmware device to manipulate sound. Not a true sound card.
I will send it back to Creative.
By the way, which Creative external sound card do you have?
What do you think of the M-Audio external firewire deivce?

TeilnehmerI am not sure I can figure out the problem.
When I open up the mixer for the sound in order to do this manually, there is no window for recording. Then I disconnected the XMod and did the same mixer opening for the native sound card and the recording window opened up. Also, when the XMod is installed and I opened the properties and looked at the MIDI music playback, the XMod was not there…it was not even a choice, only the existing SBLive! sound card.
I must be missing something. There is sound for sure, but I am unable to get the right settings that AOMRecord can see.
It was my thought that this device would give me better music. Not that the XMod does not have sound recording monitoring ability according to the manual. I wonder if the recording monitoring ability is waht the AOMRecord software uses in order to record.
Thank you.

TeilnehmerI will play around with it. I have not investigated the manual settings to great detail, but I will do and let you know….thank you.

TeilnehmerI goofed and renamed my computer. The serial number should be the same. I will try the method you described in the attachment.

TeilnehmerI will play around with it a bit more. By the way, I have sent multiple e-mails to AOL complaining about the XM incursion. Unfortunately it is like a rock falling on the moon…nobody can hear it….
I am howver able to listen to the old AOL radio format with my D-Link media adapter attached to my stereo. I cannot record it but at least I can hear the stations.

TeilnehmerThomas,
I tried Pandora and I think that the recording quality is good. The songs are stored in a folder called Pandora so there is no ability to really separate the different genre. I am not sure if I like the all the songs that are generated with my selections but I think that is part of the evolution of the „genome project“.

TeilnehmerOkay. I am trying live365 because of the XM incursion into Radio@AOL.
I think part of the problem is that the time is not transimitted to AOMRecord so the software cannot use that as the proper break point. Also, if the song dips down into a „quiet moment“ then the recrding will stop and a new one begin with a split mp3 file. And yes, the next song is tagged to the previous song with regard to the naming of the file. Well, that is a fixable event; simply edit all the song files, provided you write down the name of the first recording since it will not be written.
Oh my! This is what I am doing instead of cleaning the garage which is my husbandly assignment for the day.

Cheers.

TeilnehmerI will look at Pandora.
I still have the old Radio@AOL stations via my D-Link media player (DSM-320). I can play this through my home stereo.
Thank you as always.

TeilnehmerThomas,
Again, no luck. There is no pause between the songs in the XM channels. There is a runin from one song to the next without pausing so the volume never goes to baseline so therefore ther is never a signal to start.
Any other thoughts? Oh,and I agree that the quality of the station has twindled.
This is a real interesting twist in AOL’s scheme.
Radio@AOl was first Spinner.Com and then was meged with Netscape and became Radio@Netscape. Then AOL came in and started buying things up and thus evolved into Radio@AOL which began was leading to charging people for access. Now all of a sudden they are hooking up with XM.
I think the orignal Spinner.Com concpt will be lost. The folks that put that station together really cared about music and playlists.
I would welcome back Spinner.
As usual, thank you for good support and whatever other thoughts you may have.

TeilnehmerIt seems that I am unable to record anything that is tagged to an XMRadio station on Radio@AOL. I am unable to listen to the German site because my user ID puts out of Germany and I am locked out of listening to that site.
I have a D-Link Media Center (DSM-320) which uses Radio@AOL and the Acoustic Rock station is still there along with the AllDaveMAtthews station. That is for home listening.
Hopefully, Thomas can figure out a way to record the XMRadio staions on Radio@AOL.
